February Musings – Finding Balance

It was always going to be difficult. Balance is hard enough to find, in amongst the chaos, but now more than ever I wanted to find a way to do that which I wanted, which I needed without it detracting from all that I had currently carried.

Overloaded and overburdened I could have carried on, but at what cost, and to what end. For the first time, I knew that the towel which I threw over the ropes was not a marker of failure, but an acceptance that for now the fight was not within my favour and that sometimes stepping down is still the best step forward.

I have learned, as I always do, by doing. A kinaesthetic calamity, but at least my lessons are grounded in my experience and I know for certainty that the path I have chosen is for now the right one to explore. Don’t be afraid to just be. Don’t accept that achievement is the only route to success. Try, and try again and even when things don’t end as you predicted, you have tried and so you cannot fail.

Do what makes you happy, and do not settle for less.
