Prompt 17 – Use either the picture provided as inspiration for your story, or choose a writing cliche or trope and use this as the basis for a story.
DS Coremans, Forever Distracted By Life
Author’s Note: A ‘trope’ is a narrative tool used by a writer. Most genres and character types have tropes or stereotypical expectations that most readers will look for when reading a specific genre. A ‘cliché’ is a trope which has been overused or used so often it has become predictable.
If you’re not sure what to write about try using one of these cliches to get you started:
- The grass is always greener on the other side
- There are plenty more fish in the sea
- You can’t judge a book by it’s cover
