Sometimes I write
without intention;
waiting to see
what happens
naturally, or not,
I go with the flow,
I arrive where I should be.
Without preparation
I am left unsteady
and though I try
I am never sure, where I should be.
It fills my head with angst
when I think about you, instead of me
yet every choice along the journey,
is one I would make again,
to arrive where I should be.
I do not know my destination,
nor what I must do along the way;
only that I am standing on a path
which can only go one way.
I could stray, and walk away,
but I know, if I follow this path
I will arrive where I should be.

Author’s Note:
This poem was used as inspiration for today’s Poetry Prompt. This poem was written in September 2020. When I read it back today I felt it an apt poem for today’s prompt poem as made me think about the journey we have been on since then, we may not have known where we were going, but so far we have made it through intact. I feel a little lost at the moment and turning again to writing to help me process has helped me greatly return myself to a grounded place within the present.
