Musical Inspiration

If you find writing when it is quiet difficult, but find traditional music equally difficult to write to, why not write along to this ambient piece written specifically for this hour’s prompt. Each hour during this marathon has a unique, and original track which accompanies each prompt composed and created by Composer, and Modular Artist Paul James specifically for this event.

  1. Sonnet – Bliss

We spent the day together, we drove far
beyond where we needed to go, only
we didn’t have a destination. We
wanted to be plural, not singular.

Your hand found mine as I drove, you held it
together while on the motorway, free
to look ahead instead of in my eyes
but when they met it was time to go home.

I parked the car two doors down from your house.
Not too close, not yet, we were not ready
you met my eye, you said goodbye, you held
my hand, as my gaze drifted to your mouth
which was getting closer, or was that me?
Our first kiss was the first time I knew bliss.

  2. Prompt 1 Write about the first kiss experience

Breath hitched, fear battled with excitement
    Stoked by words her imagination
    Darkness, a dangerous element
    Eyes closed in breathless trepidation

Waiting in silence for that first brush
Rose held herself straight in the dawn clear
An unconscious sigh and a faint blush
The mist stoked by heat began to stir

The two arms caressing oh so soft
Held her two cheeks with a fleeting touch
Swiftly she lifted her face aloft
    Blood quick in anticipation much

The softness of his lips surprisingly gentle
Warm rays melted dew on her petal

  3. Why settle for two?

I want two of everything, I ask
Whether it be a wish wrong or right
A wish, gift , a blessing or words bright
Is it too much to ask for, I ask
You look like I’m giving a tough task
Always one is never enough, right?
What I want two of wonder you might
Does it really matter what, I ask

It does too, you know, if you ask me
Depends what you want, you say
Two of what is important to know
For me to decide why two not three
It is as clear to me as night and day
Why settle for two you can have three?
