The Poetry Marathon 2021 – Hour 3

Senryu – Forget Me

Do not forget me

as I have forgotten you,

while lost in sorrow.

Today I am taking part in my third poetry marathon, an annual event in which poets from around the world come together writing one poem per hour for 24 hours using a variety of written and visual prompts.

Hour 3 was an interesting prompt and the first where I used the image prompt as my primary inspiration for my poem. I was intrigued by the transitory imagery which inspired the first line “A place of transition, a liminal space” which I decided to use in one of my favourite poetic forms ‘The Villanelle’ which naturally uses repetition and rhyme to create a cyclical form of poetry.

You can see the prompt for Hour 3 here, on The Poetry Marathon website.

You can also see my own Hour 3 poem here:

Cinquain – Forgotten

Not Lost

but forgotten

and so harder to find.

Left waiting to be found again

by you.
