Sonnet – Hitting the Wall (Irony)
Perhaps I should have stretched before I ran
having done this before I knew the risk
there is usually an hour that I miss
to catch up I must do all that I can
but this time, I am more than just a fan
today is more than an empty promise.
The time I made for myself is a gift,
to create my only purpose or plan.
That I am joined from beginning to end
is for me far more than I could have hoped
this was something I had to put in place
and in the words I read I am with friends
they are reason enough to carry on.
I was always going to run this race.
