Senryu – Pain

I have seen before

the damage that pain can do.

It lives within you.

Cinquain – Push

Push through

and you will reach

higher than the heavens.

You are more than this one moment

of life.

Pantoum – Bold & New

I would like to stake my claim that I
am exactly where I should be. I am
just too excited to stay put, just
too excited to pretend I would be too
tired give myself the time to rest. Tired,
to another man is a reason to rest, to
do anything just for you. When to do
something new is the question, something
bold is all the more exciting, but bold
and brave require energy, strength and
new found resilience to be someone new.

I am just too tired to do something bold and new.

Villanelle – Too Tired

I am just too tired to do something bold and new
but I cannot bring myself to do again
the tasks which I have already seen through

to the end, or to a new beginning for you
to a time where you can be surrounded by your friends
but right now, I am too tired to do something bold and new

I keep what is reasonable firmly locked within my view
I works towards the means to meet my many ends
ignoring the tasks which I have already seen through

When did the tangent in the path take me so far askew
from the direction I had chosen to travel I have went
where I am too tired to do something bold and new

Something I tell small lies instead of telling the truth
because the words give back the confidence I lent
to redo the tasks which I have already seen through

I wait within this self-made purgatory for a cue
hoping that my moral balance has not been spent
because I am just too tired to do something bold and new
or return to the tasks which I have already seen through.

Author’s Note:

Is it actually possible to create something out of nothing. Not lead into gold that alchemic cliché, nothing that banal. No, the literal creation; of existence from non-existence. Is it better to push through and put into words the things that would never have been said, or should silence be the canvas on which we watch the world before us take shape. Words are weapons and tools, misused or misplaced words can have devastating consequences, but some words can change the way we do the simplest things.

Sometimes the hardest things to say are the most worthwhile, but when do we know? When we are pushed down and subjugated, and prevented from saying that which needs to be said. When we have the power to speak, but no platform from which to be heard. When we have bided our time and risen above the masses ready to be heard, but now we speak for ourselves rather than speaking for them. Our words will once again be lost, then forgotten.

“Be careful with your words. Once they are said, they can be only forgiven, not forgotten.”

-Unknown

Sometimes the things we say feel more important than they are, other times we say things to feel more important.

Even as a writer I do not alway know what the message and the meaning of the words I share contain, I pull them from the ethers while channeling the divine, or simply channelling my own peace of mind. I do not preach from a pedestal I simply question the universe and hope to find the companionship required to review and reconsider the meaning of the words I commit to the page. The page may contain my words, but it is not until they are within those confines that they have the power to be free of my intention.

Triolet – The Easy Way

I choose the easiest way

to tackle the hardest things.

I have even tried to pray.

I choose the easiest way

but have no resolve to stay

to see what life may bring.

I choose the easiest way

to tackle the hardest things.

Haiku – Cold Grass

Discarding your life,

is it easy for the tree

to do what it must?
