Use the pictures and/or this common cliché as inspiration for a poem or story:
“Time heals all wounds.”
(You don’t need to use the actual words of this cliché in your work, just try to capture the theme or emotion created by them.)

Senryu – Time Heals
Time heals, well yes, but

only the physical hurt;
for your mind needs rest.
Cinquain – Time Heals
In time,

you recover,
but life leaves scars behind
which can never be hidden or
ignored.

Villanelle – Time Heals All Wounds, But…
your loss is a festering sore,
necrotised flesh, fractured and flayed;
and my time left is not a gift but a chore.
I am changed, intrinsically, to my core
I know that life is a game being played
but your loss is a festering sore;
one which I cannot hope to ignore.
Left exposed my every nerve is frayed
and my time left is not gift but a chore.
Were you ever to have asked for more
I would have given gladly and never strayed
for your loss is a festering sore.
Now I look for any reason to implore
myself to stop overthinking decisions made
in my time left which is neither gift nor chore.
I play on still, with no-one keeping score;
no end in sight, yet still I am afraid
that your loss will remain a festering sore
and my time left, remains neither gift nor chore.

Triolet – Time May Heal
Time may heal you
2021©DSCoremans
but you will never be the same.
If life has gone askew;
time may heal you
but you will never be brand new.
You are all that will remain
and time may heal you
but you will never be the same.
Author’s Note:
These poems were a response to the Common Cliché Writing Prompt #3 “Time heals all wounds.”
Time is the one thing we all have, but never seem to have enough of. Time is infinite, yet we are not. When we ask for more time, we know that we will never receive this because in truth time cannot be given, it is something only an individual can take.
We do not take time literally, rather we invest. Time passes and ebbs away regardless of our input, but we mark our progress by the quality of the time investments we make each day.
When we are hurt; it often because we are faced with a situation in which time is in someway against us. Time on its own will never give us anything that we don’t first make time for ourselves.
It has been said, ‘time heals all wounds.’ I do not agree. The wounds remain. In time, the mind, protecting its sanity, covers them with scar tissue and the pain lessens. But it is never gone.”
